What Are You Reading?

It doesn't matter if it's Winter or Summer, I read all year round. I really love reading anything I can get my hands on. Also, I like to read a book where you can turn the page. Right now I'm finishing a book called "Whiskey Words & a Shovel III" By R.H. Sin. It was a good book.

So what are you reading? Do you like books or do you prefer a tablet?

When I travel to the US, I tend to bring an extra carry on suitcase. That suitcase usually gets filled with purchased books. It's my addiction. I have found really old books, with notes written inside the covers that have sent me on wonderful adventures discovering places, people, and times.

You and I share a love of haunted places. I love exploring the ghostly adventures, and the stories attached. There is a hotel in PA that a girlfriend and I want to stay at in the summer. It is supposed to be haunted and scary...we are going to bring a bottle of bourbon and enjoy

I fully admit one of my guilty pleasures is ghost shows. I'll curl up on the couch and try and get frightened, but mostly, I love the "what if" aspect.

I've been a reader since childhood. Used bookstores are my addiction, and I can spend hours and much money once within one. My house has books piled every where, every room has book or two on a table, or the chair. I am currently editing something I wrote, so my reading is a bit slow, since I know how it ends LOL>

I'm just finishing up Blood Meridian by Cormac McCarthy. It's an acquired taste and I don't recommend it for everybody, but I found it a good read. If you read No Country for Old Men or saw the movie you'll know what I mean. It's kind of like reading Homer. You have to know what you're getting yourself into.

I was always such a voracious reader but it just seems lately I don't have the attention span. My last book was "Sum it Up" the story of the great Lady Vols coach Pat Summitt.

I happen to be reading The Looking Glass War by John le Carré.

I like to flip pages. I love seeing books on the shelf in a bookcase. I detest tablets with a passion. When one picks up a copy of Charles Dickens' David Copperfield and sees that it is 1024 pages in length, the reader gets an idea of the weight and depth of the work and that it will be a long and perhaps rewarding read.
I happen to be reading John le Carré's The Looking Glass War for the fourth time. I love holding this book in my hand. I love the aroma of the pages when turned. These days, I just can't get enough of this. It is quite a libation.

When I lived back east, I visited used bookstores at least once a week. Visiting used bookstores and collecting used books was a passion of mine. That passion consumed my weekends. I lived and breathed on that passion. I love history. I love the visual arts. I was a longtime member of well known maritime museum back east and I took thousands of photographs there. That area also has used bookstores, haunted places and great historic pubs. One pub is widely known for its ghostly inhabitants.

Come California and I am bored beyond belief.

"The complet robot" - Isaac Asimov (on tablet)
"The Pleistocene saga" - Julian May (paper)

I like ebooks because I don't have to hold them open while I'm eating. And I have a built-in dictionary at the touch of a finger.

Your mind

Hahaha . . . Wishful thinking I suppose. Never been much of a reader. Poor vision, and other lame excuses . . . I know it's putting the cart before the horse, but I prefer - almost by necessity, to write.
